The past year with all the Covid issue and changes we faced because of it could have been a discouraging year for me. But God magnified Himself in my life by seeing Him conquer many areas in my life.
God conquered me to trust my Lord. And what joy it brought to my life!
This year still continues with much uncertainty, and my Lord wants to grow my trust in Him. This time with my new personal theme for 2021.
Serenity
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Psalm 107:29
Psalm 107:29 is my theme verse I find is an appropriate reminder that storms will come but my Lord calms the storm.
To experience serenity, you must have unhindered trust with the Lord.
This unhindered trust does not come from what I can do but what God does.
Our Lord always takes the first step toward us, you follow Him. You can follow Him by leaps or one-step-at-a-time in His direction.
Theme Song
Something my Lord has had me do through the years is to have a theme song. And this year my theme song is Amen (the Simple Gospel) by Kari Jobe.
Knowing Him
You cannot experience serenity with God if you do not know Him. Knowing God is key if you ever want to trust Him.
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8
Experiencing the awareness of God in your life is essential.
It is not enough that your read and study the Bible about God. But you must also allow the words of scripture to become a reality in your life.
This takes time and a deliberate desire to know Him for who He is not who you think Him to be.
Marriage Example
This year my husband and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage. But the past few years I have only begun to know him.
Before that I lived my married life with what I thought my husband should be. Expectations that we not even the man I married.
Because of the business of life, I give little time to knowing the man I married.
How easy is that same error to occur in our relationship with God. It is even more prevalent because our physical eyes do not see God every day as we may our spouse. It could be years before you kindle the awareness of God in your life.
First Love
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou has left thy first love. Revelations 2:4
Have you forgotten your first love, Jesus Christ our Lord?
It’s not too late, you know.
As my Lord has given me an incredible love for my husband that happened as I returned to my first love.
This is my prayer for 2021. God’s love to grow in and through me. Able to share such love with my husband, children, friends and those God would have me minister to.
As you meditate our God in 2021, you can rest assured, He is the very serenity your whole being desires.
Allow the awareness of His presence permeate your thoughts and life throughout the day and every day in 2021.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5
